BlueMoonWolf
The Blue Moon rises on August 31. The term "blue moon" comes from ancient folklore. The first recorded English use was in a pamphlet from 1524 titled Read Me and Be Not Angry. It stated: "If they say the moon is blue, we must believe that it is true."
A moon is considered "blue" when it is the second full moon in one month.
There have been blue moons literally on rare occasions. In areas where there have been severe fires or volcanic eruption, the dust particles may make the moon appear to have a blue hue.
A fun tidbit: February 1865 is the only month in recorded history to not have any full moon at all.
